Eric Krasno is an electric soul maestro on the guitar. He has earned worldwide fame for his slick-lick playing in the transcendent-jazz ensembles Soulive and Lettuce, not to mention innumerable cameos with funky bands throughout the lands and overseas. (For example, Lettuce has a huge following in Japan).
See here for Soulive:
And here for Lettuce (Krasno starts killin’ it at about the 8:30 mark):
And one more for good measure. See Kraz and friends sizzle their way through Hendrix’s Manic Depression:
Now Mr Krasno is trying on a new hat, and my what a mighty fine-fitting cap it is indeed. Adopting the DJ moniker KRAZ, he has ventured into the nebulous realm of the mix-tape, releasing a 29-track compilation entitled The Funky President Mix-Tape (implicitly supporting our oft-embattled yet entirely-righteous Barry Obama). This fresh mash is being offered free for download from Royal Family Records. Hear that? FREE!
Here’s a small sampling: Funkify Your Life, by The Meters: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EgYxiwOZego
The rest of the mix-tape includes more from The Meters, Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings, Jay-Z, and rare tracks from the Fyre Dept to create a seamless 72 minute stream of funky delight. Enjoy! And don’t forget to share!
